Limon

This weekend all of the students from LASP went to the limon province in Costa Rica. It was an amazing expierence and we learned a lot about the poverty and culture of Limon. Its amazing to see the huge contrast of culture and economics of limon and san jose. limon is where the main port of costa rica is and brings in most of the money every year from exports yet it is by far the poorest province of all costa rica. it is also the province with the most people of other ethnicites. It was so amazing to see the contrast of limon and to talk to people about the poverty and racism in costa rica! we also learned a lot about monoculture and the bananas and coffee that are grown here in costa rica as well as the horrible living conditions of those who live and work on the banana plantations. its incredible!

We also got the amazing opportunity to go to the beach and each classic limonese food and we also got to visit an indigenous reserve and talk with a woman there. We have been so blessed with opportunities to learn so much about the culture and language here in Costa Rica and im so thankful for all these opportunties and people that God has placed in our path.

  1. I am glad for you that you are able to see the world at its worst, and hope that you can make a difference in someone's life down there.

  3. I'm glad you are having so many unique experiences and having so much fun with it. Know that glimpses of poverty and racism like those you are seeing will follow you for a long time after you return. But that is a good thing, really. I've heard it said that you should "Never Recover" from an experience like that.
Cuidate mucho!! Que el Senor te bendiga!
